Love is a blind creature looking for itself
Human nature is a self-absorbed animal searching for understanding
When we enter into relationship our hearts are searching for meaning, searching for understanding.
We search for what it means to feel outside ourselves.
Given only the memories of our parents’ relationship, we search, unconsciously, for what we deeply know.
If our parents had a difficult and painful relationship, then this is often what we look for.
This can occur over and over again, until we recognise the patterns.
One day, when we are not looking for the next relationship, when we are not looking to emulate what we learned, someone appears not like the others.
Many times, this is the first real test of our courage to find our understanding.
This is the first real time for our hearts to finally understand what love is.
It is a place of fear, a place where there is no map as there was with the previous relationships.
Many flee and do not have the courage to explore and learn, destined to repeat past failures.
But for the few that choose to wander into this emotional forest, they find themselves for the first time, they find understanding.
This is the beginning of understanding love. The essential key to this is the ability to communicate.
Love is after all, communication. This is how love speaks.
This is how love understands.
This is how we learn what we understood as children.
