I could have died
So many times
Moments of adolescent stupidity
Hours of adult depression
Days of anger and pain
And sorrow
I could have died
So many times
Then life changed
One day
One moment
A cliff overlooking the crashing surf
Tears fell
My chest heaved
With great torment
I stepped forward
To the edge
One more step
To oblivion
A few inches
To end the pain and sorrow
A gust of wind
From out of nowhere
I fell backward
Onto the hard granite
I could have died
But other plans
Were in the making…
